Global Game Jam 2019: Kuwait
24 – 26,
What’s Global Game Jam?
Global Game Jam is a hackathon-ish event where participants who are games enthusiasts (Video games or not) gather to make games throughout the weekend.
The goal of Global Game Jam is to bring people together to create video games or non-digital games, like
All Global Game Jam sites share a common theme and jam diversifiers – sub-themes that provide additional, but optional, structure to jammers. We ask participants to create an original game inspired by the jam’s theme within a prescribed time no larger than 48 hours. The brief time span is meant to help encourage creative thinking to result in small, but innovative, experimental games.
Please note: Global Game Jam is a collaborative event, not a competitive event.
So, if you’d like to

Do I have to be professional?
Being a professional is a huge advantage, but it’s not a requirement. Programmers, musicians, artists, story writers, game designers, cheering squads, the clueless guy walking across the street, you’re all welcome!
Even if you’re not skilled, you can help out a team with tasks like, looking for assets, organizing things, or even discover a skill you never thought you had! (Believe me, it happened before)
In short, if you know how to draw a stick figure, you’re technically an artist.
If you know how to trim a track, you’re technically a sound engineer.
If you can put up a basic 8-bit track, you’re technically a musician.
With this pattern, you’re probably capable of helping a team in one way or another, so join us!
Is there any limitation on software\equipment?
No. You can whatever software or equipment you like. Here’s a quick list on things to get started on:

- Game Maker Studio (https://yoyogames.com/studio)

You don’t have to commit to that list. If you have your own set of tools or, well, develop your own while jamming (Which is amazing, btw), that’ll be great too!

Can I join with a team?
Although there’s no rule against it, we really discourage joining the jam with a team. Global Game Jam is all about collaborating and working with participants who share the same interest. It’s an opportunity to network, make new friends, and learn how to work in a team with total strangers!
How do I join?
