Last numbered Windows was 3.whatever… Then things shifted to 95, 98, NT, 2000, Millennium, XP, 2003, 2008 and Vista (Thats all the Windows I could remember)…
Anyways, Windows 7 was just a codename (Formally named Vienna and BlackComb) that describes the successor of Windows Vista…
Now, its just its name… No codenames no temporary names no nothing… Windows 7 will be named Windows 7…

Microsoft has it’s two Desktop OS families aimed at two deferent types of audience. DOS/9x and NT are aimed at home users and businesses, respectivly.
They never “shifted” from 98 to NT or 2000. just thought you should know.

the shift i meant was the naming thingy… they shifted from using numbers to names… and seems like they’re using numbers again… -_-;
ofcourse NT is something totally different from the rest
