Psychologist Sarah Master of the University California, Los Angeles, conducted a research in which she studied 25 women, to whom she subjected to mild physical pain source, but once while the women were holding hands of a loved one or a loved one’s photo. Another time while the women held hands of a male stranger or viewing pictures of strangers.
The Psychologist concluded that, while it’s known that the presence of a loved one in the times of hurt and loneliness could lessen the pain, it is also proved that looking at photos of loved ones can have the same effect. On the other research, where the women held hands of strangers of their photos, there’s was no effect of a lessened pain.
So.. next time you’re feeling blue, grab a photo and remember that one you care about.
