Well, USB 3.0 is around the corner and… Hold on one minute please…
“HEY USB!! I TOLD YOU TO KEEP LOOKING AT THE WALL IN THAT CORNER!! I WON’T LET GO OF YOU UNTIL YOU APOLOGIZE!!”
Anyway, as I was saying… USB 3.0 is around the corner and so is SATA/600. And now, INTEL is working on their new “Light Peak” concept that is literally some infrared lights pew-pewing through a long fibre-optic cable (Probably as long as longcat) with crap load of stuff you can attach from keyboards and mice to storage network devices.
This baby can do 10Gbps data transfer both ways at the same time (Just like a doggy-door) and can go up to 100Gbps with some controller upgrades.
According to INTEL, “Light Peak” would be ready to ship sometime during 2010.
if it’s not much trouble, may i know the reason why USB’s getting a timeout?
USB is fucked big time. Hopefully Light Peak arrives soon 😀
SIGTERMer:
USB was naughty today
Fencer Darkwind:
You forgot one factor: PRICE!! We all know fibre-optic related stuff costs a real sum of cash
