Lake Vostok is a 14 million years old lake located in Antarctica. What’s special about this lake is that it is completely sealed off the world under 4 kilometer of ice. These special properties have aroused the questions of what kinds of living forms might be living under that vast block of ice for years. Since it had been sealed off the surrounding environment way before the dawn of man, maybe it contains unknown life forms!
Well, the mystery is no more. Thanks to Russian scientists, the ice-covered lake will be drilled in late January, and samples of its water will be isolated for examination.
