IOS4 is Officially OUT on iTunes

The long awaited IOS4 Apple’s new mobile operating system is out for downloads. Just plug in your iPod touch or iPhone and click check for update and your ready to roll.

Important Note Only for Jailbreakers: If you want to upgrade go right ahead. However, be warned that the current Jailbreak is beta version of redsn0w 0.9.5 which can only Jailbreak (at the moment) the iPhone 3G and iPodTouch 2G. Unlocking the iPhone 3G with this Jailbreak is unknown to my knowledge.

So if you don’t have any of the above devices you’re out of luck and you’re just going to have to wait for the latest Jailbreak release because there are none. My advice to you is to wait a little and have some patience for the devs that got you all the goodies to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

How to backup:

If you want to go ahead with this update here is a tut on how to backup your contents like notes, contact list, calender and game saves via iTunes. Note: Make sure that you download the latest iTunes to get the update.

1. Plug in your device.
2. Select your device in iTunes.
3. Hold the alt key and right click on your device a pop-up window should appear. You should be able to see the word Back-up. Click it. Your now backing up your stuff on iTunes. That’s it.

Backing Up Purchased Applications

1. Plug in your device.
2. Click file > Transfer purchases. (Make sure that you are the authorized user to authorize iTunes to backup on the computer your using and your done.

Restore:

Just plug in your device, hold the alt key again, right click and select the word “Restore”. Done.

  1. I thought we can only install it on Iphone 3gs !

3g are getting a mini version of the ios4 !

there are actually a group of developers working on a similar version of ios4 for the iphone 2g
    lol

  2. Yup the IOS4 is for all devices but there will be some features lacking with the older models from iPhone 3g down and iPod Touch 2G down.

Interesting, I would love to see the dev team who are working on the custom IOS4 for the iphone 2g.
