According to REUTERS, bunch of med smart people from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston successfully made an artificial lung for a rat that lived for few hours.
Basically, they removed some cells from the rat, put it in some bioreactorwhateverthing liquid with some stuff inside, gave it some pressure to keep it running then implanted it back in to see it working for six ours “imperfectly”.
This is great! Imagine what would happen if they mastered this and became available… Shisha smokers will be regular customers in hospitals xD
