6-months-old JAVA vulnerability could take Mac OS SUCKS down!?

Right now, alot would jump and say JAVA is on every OS\Platform\Device and this vulnerability is on every single one of’em… But what I’m writing here would beg to differ…

Julien Tinnes from cr0 blog wrote a JAVA vulnerability explanation that is found in Sun and it got fixed around 6 months ago…

So far, this vulnerability could strike every single OS since it’s in JAVA’s core…

Sun fixed things up and every OS deployed a patch to fix this… Except Mac OS SUCKS…

Here’s something I’d like to quote from Julien’s post:

I’ve been wanting to talk about this for a while. I was holding off, while Apple was working to patch this vulnerability. Unfortunately, it is still not patched in their latest security update from just a few days ago. I believe that since this vulnerability has already been public for almost 6 months, making MacOS X users aware that Java needs to be disabled in their browser is the good thing to do.

Now, I’ll start bashing Mac OS SUCKS for a bit (It’s my fun anyway) 😛

Mac OS SUCKS claims that, they DON’T NEED any antivirus since they can’t be affected by viruses…

It’s slightly becoming an interesting target for hackers and have at most %10 of total malwares existed in this planet since forever (Even %10 is an over kill… It’s less than %10 for sure), is becoming publicly vulnerable in it’s default settings and configurations even without the need to install a malware…

Yes, Windows has %99.2837462938476238476 of the total malwares developed in this planet… Yet the key is MALWARES not SYSTEM VULNERABILITY THAT HAVEN’T BEEN PATCHED…

Yes, Windows is a big BIG target for hackers and malwares and, leaving Microsoft’s black history behind (Which they’ve been over it since 2003), they’ve been dramatically improving in the number of discovered vulnerabilities and the ability to rapidly deploy a fix-patch to keep things cool…

Yes I’ve been bashing Mac OS SUCKS alot and I’m biased person and all…

Then again, I respect Mac OS SUCKS for being an OS since I know how hard it is to write an operating system…

But they should re-evaluate their security measurements and approaches and stop claiming things that, by time, shows the opposite…

Come on Mac OS SUCKS fanboys in Kuwait… Stop using “The most secured OS” excuse to use this OS… It’s not an excuse anymore…

Note that I’m leaving Linux aside, because, well, it’s Linux…

  1. I think we’ve had this discussion before and I’ve explained the limits of said vulnerability. It’s only as vulnerable as any other BSD based platform with a Java VM on it.

  2. Yes,

But things gets nasty when all the other OSes patches that vulnerability EXCEPT Mac OS SUCKS…

It’s like, every country can cure a newly discovered disease except a single specific country…

  3. This isn’t a disease nor is it a significant vulnerability that is exclusive to osx, it is infact in any oses running a non standard java library/ VM. and when you say all other oses you really mean all other java VMs not oses.

  4. You just rephrased what you wrote… So I’ll rephrase what I wrote too:

OS == Java VM (In this case… Since every single OS must have Java VM)

Now, every OS patched their Java VM vulnerability and fixed things up EXCEPT MAC OS SUCK which they Didn’t…

It is a major vulnerability to all the OSes back in 6 months… But right now, it’s Mac OS SUCKS JAVA VM EXCLUSIVE SINCE THEY DIDN’T FIX IT YET…
