One of the few “Valid” reasons for one to converts from Windows to Mac is “It takes so long to boot! DAMN IT! IT’S FRUSTRATING!!” and stuff.

*You can monitor your boot and graph it (using bootchart or any similar application)
*You can share your bugs on launchpad easily with preinstalled bug report tools. Also, participate with your descriptions.
My personal computer is an old Pentium 4 PC w/ ~2GB ram running Debian squeeze and boots in less than 90 seconds. And my Pentium II PC used to boot in less than 100 seconds when I had Arch Linux installed!
… this is a solution for those who don’t know how to control their systems, those who are using systems that restrict user control, or those who are lazy. Meh.

Anxious Nut, yes, I’ll ditch all my softwares that my work uses and the guarantees I’d get from vendors and switch to klinux, customize every single thing of my own shit (instead of having a preset settings that works good, but we screw uo by time) and ask’n’wait for decades to get a valid answer for a problem…
Linux is great, but switching from a whole OS to another just to save a minute or two of boot time isn’t a valid answer.

You don’t have to ditch anything.
All applications have equivalent applications! Whatever you’re using, there exist at least one application that does the same job on linux. I’ve been using Linux as my main OS since late 2006 and I have only needed to use windows once for VB.net programming in highschool!
If you’re not familiar with linux, of course you will face problems if you’re trying to run Arch or Debian, but you don’t have to use those! You can use Ubuntu or Linux Mint – both of these have almost everything running out of the box and requires no configurations when installed! Heck, they run more out of the box than windows does! As for waiting for an answer, you can always read the manuals and fix your problem yourself. However, if you’re too lazy or prefer “guarantees you’d get from vendors”, you can purchase personal support from a linux solutions cooperation like Canonical/Ubuntu and they’d take care of everything – the way you like it, grantees, right?
Linux saves years in comparison with windows! If you think this is anything other than true, then can you tell me why all big international corporations including Google, IBM, Wikipedia/media, and HTC run Linux systems not only for servers, but for development as well?
All I can say to a person who obviously has no real experience with linux is: try linux before speaking and by trying I mean using it for a period not less than two weeks as a main OS – for work and regular use, that is.
@Insufficient Sanity: Enjoy your viruses and having to restart every time you do something. By the way, Wine is not a hack. Its reverse engineering. There’s a difference. Also, Synaptic Package Manager blows away everything Windows has to offer.
