Holy crap! Google drops H.264 support!!

Thats it… We’re doomed… We’re going back to Flash xD

Look at your Google, now back to me, now back to your Google, now back to me. Sadly, it’s not supporting H.264.

But if they weren’t so picky about bringing up open standard and supporting WebM (VP8) and Theora video codecs, H.264 could’ve turned to something wonderful.

Look down, back up. Where are we? We’re in the days where Google should’ve supported the mentioned codecs above where they could’ve been where H.264 is.

Whats in your hand? Back at me! I have it! It’s the middle finger Google giving to H.264 which is the standard that VP8 and Theora should’ve been.

Look again, the finger is now a double douche!

Anything is possible when Google changes their mind.

I’m on my chair.

I never thought I can pull this up!! I had to watch the Old Spice guy

    1. I don’t know how the hell I managed to pull that off… I got stuck at the “Anything can happen part” xD

Though yea… I want to believe that this is Google’s personal stab to Apple for dropping Flash for H.264 xD

Nothing have been stated, but I want to believe its real xD

  1. Cut down on the profanity, loolykinns.

VP8 is on par with H.264 performance-wise, but has the advantage of being completely open. so why would you stick with a property codec that will cost money in a couple of years? (H.264 will remain royalty-free for a couple of years only. after that, you’ll have to pay up)

Google made the smart decision abandoning that legal rat’s nest of a codec. good riddance.

Also, I think some sites have already started using VP8 to stream video. My system didn’t recognize the files mime type, but vlc was able to handle it just fine.

Profanity filter, because it comes in handy for posts like this -_-

    1. In case you haven’t noticed, SIG, I was mimicking The Old Spice guy regarding this event 😛

But yea, Google should’ve used VP8 from the start, that is why I said Google is giving H.264 the double douce.

  2. Old spice guy didn’t say the exact same thing. But I mimicked his “Look at your man, now back to me” ad

      1. Why? They dropped H.264 (Noting they’re still supporting Flash [proprietary]) after heavily supporting it.

It’s like giving you Cheddar cheese for a year then suddenly saying “Sorry, we only have blue cheese because it’s cheaper”.

        1. i guess i should have spelled it out from the beginning:
the words ‘crap’ and ‘holy’ should not be mixed.

I have absolutely no problem with your post except the use of these two words together.

          1. I’m not going to debate over that… But that doesn’t mean it will be prevented in the future…
