Had to install this Automatic WordPress Upgrader plug-in to do the dirty job… Yet it kept annoying me for a while because it failed at turning the maintenance mode on…

To fix it, I changed directories permissions to 777, cleared my FireFox cache and re-ran the plug-in again and worked like a charm… Then switched it back to its default permissions…
Hope this experience help others upgrading their blog without issues

Actually, the wordpress update plugin saved me upgrading my old blog. Manual work brought the site down before ;/

i know… it really saved me from doing the manual stuff… i just got confused about the permission issues… just set the whole blog’s folders to 777, upgrade, then switch it back to whatever the folders were…
