Having hard time using BitLocker? This might make it less harder for you…

|

I passed by ZDNET and found this article laying around waiting for me to pick up and read… So I did…

I might not be able to pull it through right now (I’m too lazy to follow all the steps specially after just re-doing my laptop and I’m going to get a newer one soon inshallah), but others might be interested\needing it… So just follow THIS LINK and hopefully you’ll get things done…

In case you on’t know what “BitLocker” is, it’s just some security method used to encrypt your hard drive… So you’ll be safe if someone actually stole your laptop\hard drive (In case you’re worried about the contents being exposed)… Ofcourse there’s nothing that can’t be hacked. But it’ll take alot of efforts to do so…

So girls, you can safely strip down to nothing store your family pictures and encrypt your data without having to worry about being stolen and exposed… Unless you’re dumb enough to send’em to someone else or get infected with some malware (trojans and crap) :P

Aaaaaaaaand I’m using Windows7

|

I know I’m Guilty… But seems like I couldn’t wait for it to be released by Microsoft :P

Anyways… Here’s what I like about it (so far):
*   Installing the system was so easy’n'SODAMNFAST
*   Booting and shutting down was so quick (much faster than Windows XP)
*   Looks AWESOME (Stop it right there Mac fanboys… You’d jump saying they just ripped you off but who cares?)
*   Useful gadgets that actually supports Kuwait (Been using Google Desktop Gadgets which frustrated be since it doesn’t support Kuwait much)
*   Doesn’t look so complicated
*   More control and details about stuff… Like the ability to dumb an executed file

What I hated about it:
*   My hardwares aren’t supported… Well, mine are legacy and even Vista doesn’t support’em (Toshiba Satellite Pro L20-148 & 149… Google it’s specs)

But I fixed my hardware issues using old drivers… Though I’m still having issues with my VGA Card which would be fixed soon inshallah…

I have to explore it more… So far, I’m enjoying the HELL OF IT!!!

7 vs Vista vs XP

|

Well… The numbers in here sounds so awesome considering the tests taken… Well, I kinda trust who post under ZDNET…

So Adrian Kingsley-Hughes made this test… And if it means something, it’ll be that Windows7 WILL turn to something really interesting and entertaining…

Looking forward to it’s release =D

I’m being Microsoft junkie recently… Well the beta is leaked and all… So being flooded with Windows7 posts isn’t uncommon :P

Hands up!! A fight between ZDNET bloggers :P

|

It’s not a fight… It’s more like an argument betweeon someone who think that Windows XP users will have hard time dealing with Windows7 and someone who’s convincing him that he’s wrong :P

I actually had to suffer abit to be able to use Windows7 (Yes… I downloaded the leaked Windows7 ISO file)… But I worked things through…

Jason (The guy who dislikes Windows7) had three reasons to hate Windows7’s UI and his colleague (Ed Bott… The guy who actually wrote the article) provide a reasonable reason why things went that way, and the work around to return things the way they were back in Windows XP days…

Like, “Can’t find the (RUN) shortcut in start menu”, “Why can’t I find the common (My Computer, My Documents… etc) icons on the desktop?” and “The new Control Panel is annoying”…

I’ll be honest, I kinda hated these three issues that made me hate Vista’s UI because it’s abit similar to Windows7’s UI (If not almost identical)…

But personally I know that “Windows button+R” shows the run thingy… And I know how to show the icons on desktop (They’re hidden in Windows XP to begin with)… And how to manage things in the new Control Panel…

Ofcourse, you’ll need some time to know the new UI and get used to it (Which is one of the main reasons why Kuwaities think that Vista sucks and complicated)… But once you do, you’ll be more productive than before…

Well… I think I talked alot… Click here to read the ZDNET fight :P

Surprising Windows7 License Agreement

|

I really liked the License Agreement for Windows7…

According to ZDNET, the license goes as follows (I’ll make it short, you can check the provided link below for more details):

You can install as many copies as you want.
Don’t use it in a production environment.
The software expires on August 1, 2009.
It’s OK to install in a virtual machine.
You’ll need to take a few extra steps to lock down your privacy.
Activation and validation are alive and well.
No benchmarks allowed.

Fun fun fun…

Well… Happy new year everyone… I hope it turns out good to everyone like how it would turn out to me =D

Windows for the Royal Navy Submarines!?

|

This is really interesting…

According to CNET, the British Royal Navy is switching their Nuclear Submarines to modified Windows XP…

Why? Costs less to mantain and sailors are familiar with windows (%85 of computers runs Windows) which mean training should require less time than usual…

Worried about security and hackers? Worry no more… They got it covered… After all, it’s modified (Not Demonoid’s modification or whatever… We’re talking Military class here)…

Sorry linux guys… Seems like the Royal Navy wouldn’t need your help to run their submarines…

But seriously… I just imagined someone playing “Minesweaper” to detect sea-based mines… Or someone go and insert his iPod, Zune or Zen and the whole submarine would dance to the songs… Or the submarine goes “BSOD” when it’s in the middle of a mine-field or war :P

PRICELESS!!!

I just hope the Kuwait Navy don’t act that way and start installing MAC in their boats… Things will get nasty (Military boats will become gaybar boats :P)

Thats just my weird imagination… It’s your choice to like it or not :P

A dud virus/email-cracker

|

I’ve been searching for some password crackers lately! I found a video which will make you suspect something!!! watch it!

After watching this video I realized four things:

1-This is impossible; cracking an email in seconds!

2-It is a Visual Basic program (look at the icon!!! lol!)

3-There is something fishy so I had to download it!

4-I’m so anxious!!

Anyhow, I’ve downloaded it! and tried it! knowing It may contain viruses! I wasn’t that afraid cause I’m using a Virtual Box and I don’t care what happens to it! so I’ve opened it, and clicked on “Start Cracking” It finished in seconds! And it gave me an idiot password! lol; I’ve wrote my email, so that I’ll be sure if it is true or not! but the cracker was wrong,… tried another email! but the funny thing was that the password which was given was the same as the first one!!! At that moment I laughed so hard!!!

After a while  I asked my self:  so now what? Is that it? NOTHING!!

After another while an error occurred saying the following!! “Worm1 can not be executed! check your files” it made me laugh even more and even harder, How could anyone be that dumb?!! I mean making a virus that can’t do its job!!! really funny! but also weird! you know… He wouldn’t be dumb at all, if he made it to make people laugh at it!!

Hey guys, to download it and have some fun! click the following link: http://rs229.rapidshare.com/files/132567212/passcracker.zip

enjoy!

Windows-to-Mac guide…

|

There was some discussion topiced “New Mac”… And there’s some guy was asking for good useful tips for someone who just started using Mac…

Ofcourse I gave him the “BURN THE WITCH!! BURN THE MAC” thing… But later on I actually got some interesting links…

ar53nal14 threw a link with “Your first day with new Mac: the get-started guide for Windows users” as a topic… It pulled my attention…

It’s some guide that gives 20 useful tips for Windows users who switched to Mac (TRAITORS!!!)… I actually liked few points actually… And I hated more points as well :P (Yes… I’m an anti-mac person)…

Anyways, Click here to read more about it…

Parallel is 73h 5u><0rz!!

|

Seems like Jason D. O’Grady had a rough day…

Seems like Parallels’ Virtualization software (Parallels 4.0) isn’t as good as Jason’s expectation…

Good thing I’m a fan of VirtualBox and Microsoft Virtual PC :P

I’m not getting in the details… So I’ll just kick in the ZDNET’s related article.
