Light Peak

Well, USB 3.0 is around the corner and… Hold on one minute please…

“HEY USB!! I TOLD YOU TO KEEP LOOKING AT THE WALL IN THAT CORNER!! I WON’T LET GO OF YOU UNTIL YOU APOLOGIZE!!”

Anyway, as I was saying… USB 3.0 is around the corner and so is SATA/600. And now, INTEL is working on their new “Light Peak” concept that is literally some infrared lights pew-pewing through a long fibre-optic cable (Probably as long as longcat) with crap load of stuff you can attach from keyboards and mice to storage network devices.

This baby can do 10Gbps data transfer both ways at the same time (Just like a doggy-door) and can go up to 100Gbps with some controller upgrades.

According to INTEL, “Light Peak” would be ready to ship sometime during 2010.

Microsoft’s portable surface

Yes, Microsoft Surface can’t be installed anywhere due to cost and size. So Microsoft Research are coming up with an alternative solution.

To make things short, it’s a combination of a projector and a camera. Not the first to come up with this concept (Light Blue Optics was there first and this is almost identical to that), but it’s nice to know that Microsoft is researching things and expanding their interests.

I’m still waiting for their Screen Concept to be out in the market.

First USB 3.0 hub by Buffalo… MOOOooooo!!

I know Buffalo don’t moo… I just felt like moo-ing…

Now, I recommend everyone to refrain from buying any serious laptop yet since USB 3.0 is almost around the corner. Though computer users are safe since there’s PCI-e to USB 3.0 adapters and USB 3.0 external hard drives.

GADGETS ARE SHRINKING!!! OH NOES!!!!!

According to GIZMODO, Texas Instruments cramped 802.11n, FM TX\RX, GPS and Bluetooth in a single chip.

Do you know what that means?

Less space, less power consumption and less funds hunger.

Though I’m concerned over coverage and reception. That, and if someone will ever implement this in laptops and computers… Hmmmmm…….

Trexa Electric Car Platform

Ever wanted to build your fantasy car but you’re having insufficient mechanical knowledge or money to hire people to do the job? Well, It’s here =D

Trexa has released their “Electric Car Platform” that cost something around $15,000 which is literally the car’s base. All you need now is to build your pillow fortress on top of that platform… I mean your car body.

This platform can go as fast as 100mph, can do 0-60mph in 8 seconds, charges in 4 hours and can drive for around 105 miles in a single charge.

I’m quite sure I’ll blow up Kuwait’s power stations if I bought that and brought it here… Let your “Nabeeh a5′6ar” go to hell! :P

Now this goes well with the pressure-sensitive keyboard: Pressure sensitive touchscreen.

If you remember my previous post about Microsoft’s pressure sensitive keyboard, you will understand how this touchscreen will go well with it.

Yes, it’s not the first pressure-sensitive multitouch screen, but it uses quantum composite tunneling that can tell how hard you’re pressing on the screen. Which, according to the dudes behind this, is more accurate and power saving.

So, you won’t just suffer from accuracy, but you’ll suffer from how hard you press it… It would actually teach people how to touch gently :P

Nvidia officially named Fermi architecture GPU’s

Team green (aka Nvidia) finally announced today yesterday the names of their upcoming Fermi architecture Graphics cards in their Facebook page

Nvidia logo

The GTX 480 and the GTX 470 are the cards we are all looking forward to based on the Fermi GF100 chip

Nvidia hasnt  skipped the GeForce 3xx series as they already released a GeForce 310 which is basically an OEM only re-badge of the GeForce 210 but they just went ahead and made their next high end series the GeForce 4xx and completely burned off the 3xx series

no news on when its actually gonna be release or how powerfull its gonna be, however there are some old tech demo’s of the Fermi Gpu’s and chances are its gonna be DX11

Microsoft + KIA = UVO

Well, we all know that Microsoft have been working with FORD over their Sync project which, according to some pages I’ve read, isn’t that bad at all…

Now, according to Engadget, Microsoft are working with KIA on a project called UVO (Your Voice) showing their love to each others back in 2008…

Let’s hope there won’t be BSODed KIA cars… =P

Dual screen NetBook1?

I was like,

Then I’m like,

Well, that’s how I imagined the hacker saying…

Too lazy to fill you in with details, but the guy actually made a Dell Mini 9 NetBook with dual screen that works on Windows 7… And now, he’s working on the case mod…

All I need is just few more months and start building my room… I’ll start poking around with stuff the way I used to be…
