PREGNANT WOMAN SHOULD NOT DRINK CAFFEINE… DUH!

|

Ofcourse it’s a known thing that women shouldn’t drink coffee while they’re pregnant so the baby inside wouldn’t have unhealthy state when given birth…

Justin Konje at the University of Leicester in Britain and colleagues made a research and linked caffeine consumption to low birth weight issues…

As what I read and understood, a cup or two of coffee would increases the risk of giving birth to a low weighted baby to %20 (Which is 100ml to 199ml a day… And whats with the 99? add one more ml damnit! :P)…

They didn’t get to that result while doing nothing y’know, they studied more than 2,500 women aged 30 in average with 8~12 weeks of pregnancy…

And ofcourse as a coffee lover, it’s nearly impossible to ask people to cut caffeine totally… So Justin recommended a caffeine consumption which goes below 100ml a day…

Another reason to say “Glad to be a man” :P

Don’t quit eating dark chocolate!! Not just yet!!

|

Italian researchers reported that eating Dark Chocolate may help lower levels of inflammation, which is strongly associated with heart and blood vessel disease…

They tested how Dark Chocolate could reduce inflammation and inflammation presence by measuring the C-Reactive Protein (biomarker for coronary artery disease) levels on 4,849 healthy men and women including 824 Dark Chocolate daily consumers and 1,317 non-dark-chocolate fans…

Bottom line, CRP concentration found in non-dark-chocolated people were higher than the dark-chocolated people… Which means its good…

I’m no medic person so I’ll leave you with the REUTERS link.

Keep on running…

|

I remember this episode of “Becker” when he said “The only reason to run is when you’re being chased by someone” or something like that…

I know no matter how hard we work to keep ourselves alive, we’ll die on a date and time predefined by god which no one knows except him (Well, thats what’s mentioned in Quran). Yet we must consider the reasons (Naa5eth bel asbab).

Some doctors found out that running in early ages are less likely to be having heart disease, cancer or neurological diseases.

Too much details to explain, so I’ll just leave the REUTERS link.

Make use of your Computer’s Idle Process…

|

My friends and I have been doing this for a long time…

Folding@Home, a Stanford’s project that makes use of your Idle Process to fold proteins by running their software…

The software downloads a work package, disconnects to start proccessing it then sends the results back… No provacy compromising or whatever…

There’s a CPU and GPU versions… And there’s Windows, Linux, PS3 and MAC versions as well…

It’s fun actually, you could start a team and work together with your friends and track your progress… My friends and I started a group called “Kuwait Folders” by the number “53527” and we’re still going on folding stuff…

Just keep in mind that when you do this, you’re participating in curing some serious deseases…

For more details, Check the Folding@Home website…

And please, if you’re planning on starting folding stuff, please, join our group (write the group number while once you start the software for the first time)… At the very least, lets keep the name “Kuwait” raise there…

Blame the husband for marriage problems!!

|

I should’ve known better…

Apparently some researchers in Washington discovered that men carry some type of genes that might be the cause of an unhappy marriage…

As I understood, doing some studies on men with different martial state (married,  unmarried, attached to parents… etc) and found out that the variation of a gene named AVPR1A (which is linked to aggression) is found more on married men (with dissatisfaction marriage life) than single men…

I could be wrong… I’ve been reading this thing while I was eating chocolate… Well atleast I tried =P

Though its not definite neither proven yet, I just provided an excuse to blame it on the man =P…

RedBull is reeaaalllllllly bad for the blood…

|

That energy drink that taste\pee like pee (as a really close friend of mine described… And I apologize for using such word but hey, I agree) can’t get enough of such issues…

As Scott Willoughby, lead researcher from the Cardiovascular Research Centre at the Royal Adelaide Hospital described:

One hour after they drank Red Bull, (their blood systems) were no longer normal. They were abnormal like we would expect in a patient with cardiovascular disease

Scott tested the sugar-free 250ml RedBull on 30 adult and tested cardiovascularsystem before and after 1 hour of drinking it. It developed symptoms normally associated with cardiovascular disease…

RedBull is already banned in some European countries due to health risks…

The thing is that most of Kuwaiti youth are consuming this beverage like crazy… More than one can a day! Even some of’em drink it to satisfy their thirst instead of clear water!! I MEAN COME ON!!! REDBULL ISN’T THAT TASTY NEITHER GOOD FOR HEALTH!! IT TASTE AND SMELL BAD!!!

We should think wise’n'twice before having such drink… It’s really a health risk in the long run…
