Windows for the Royal Navy Submarines!?

|

This is really interesting…

According to CNET, the British Royal Navy is switching their Nuclear Submarines to modified Windows XP…

Why? Costs less to mantain and sailors are familiar with windows (%85 of computers runs Windows) which mean training should require less time than usual…

Worried about security and hackers? Worry no more… They got it covered… After all, it’s modified (Not Demonoid’s modification or whatever… We’re talking Military class here)…

Sorry linux guys… Seems like the Royal Navy wouldn’t need your help to run their submarines…

But seriously… I just imagined someone playing “Minesweaper” to detect sea-based mines… Or someone go and insert his iPod, Zune or Zen and the whole submarine would dance to the songs… Or the submarine goes “BSOD” when it’s in the middle of a mine-field or war :P

PRICELESS!!!

I just hope the Kuwait Navy don’t act that way and start installing MAC in their boats… Things will get nasty (Military boats will become gaybar boats :P)

Thats just my weird imagination… It’s your choice to like it or not :P

MOAR PIX000RZ!!!

|

Well, I think I forgot to post some pictures I took a while ago. So I’ll just add’em with the pictures I’ve taken today…

Pictures will be small, so you gotta check the galleries (Flickr or My Gallery) to see the real size)…

First: Greg’s Trip:
These pictures were taken while I was on the back seat on our way to move some stuff from Greg’s old place to his new one… And for those who know me pretty well will understand how annoying and nutty I go whenever I sit back there… So I had to occupy myself by taking these pictures…

Second: My Mitsubishi Lancer:
I had two hours free in my college… I had nothing to do and remembered my friend “Anas” telling me to try snapping pictures somewhere other than Gulf Street (Yes… I’ve been abusing that street :P)… So I tried taking pictures of my car in the college’s parking basement…

Funny thing is, there was some guy with crappy old Caprice that kept on annoying me for 10 minutes… He keeps on coming, drifting (Well, the ground is soft so it’s easy to do so), disturbing me with the squeeky tire sound stuff then move away… He took 5~7 spins :P

Hope you like’em…

So Santa is a Hacker… Quite Interesting :P

|

Not a good time to blame Santa for computer security issues… He’s still out there giving presents :P

I know this got nothing to do with Santa, but the article I’m referring at made me laugh mentioning that :P

Anyways, Amazon is alerting customers about some Samsung digital picture frames that comes with virus (or let’s just say malware)…

They’re recommending downloading the latest software from Samsung’s website instead of using the one included with the digital picture frame…

As the article goes, most of current anti-viruses can detect and remove the malware easily without any problem if they’re up-to-date…

Leaving the fact that Samsung should’ve worked harder to prevent such incident or Mac OS X and Linux users are safe from such thing (I’m sure someone would jump and bring this up… So I’m just bringing this up to save time :P), it would be priceless seeing some kid’s face cursing Santa because he got a digital picture frame as a present from the christmass tree :P

I wonder if Santa will hack some military network next year :P

Having issues when updated OS X to 10.5.6?

|

I got surprised when I read this… I’d probably think the same…

Well, some users got their Macs blacked out when they’ve done updating their OS X to 10.5.6

You’ll be left with a dead backlit black screen after updating (Some actually got system\kernel panic and system’n'printer aren’t working)…

It was due to old firmware thingies that the update didn’t flag… Or something like this… Every victim thought they’re having hardware issues (I’d think the same)…

Someone found a solution that would bring your Mac to life again…

Failing a software update? OK, Microsoft would fail such thing due to the Massive amount of hardware they’re working on (And yes… They did few times)… But to fail on system update with so-limited-hardware? That reminds me of the OS X patch for a vulnerable patch they’ve released to fix the NS vulnerability :P (I haven’t supported that previous post with any resource… But you can dig it up in Slashdot… Too lazy to pull it off)

A dud virus/email-cracker

|

I’ve been searching for some password crackers lately! I found a video which will make you suspect something!!! watch it!

After watching this video I realized four things:

1-This is impossible; cracking an email in seconds!

2-It is a Visual Basic program (look at the icon!!! lol!)

3-There is something fishy so I had to download it!

4-I’m so anxious!!

Anyhow, I’ve downloaded it! and tried it! knowing It may contain viruses! I wasn’t that afraid cause I’m using a Virtual Box and I don’t care what happens to it! so I’ve opened it, and clicked on “Start Cracking” It finished in seconds! And it gave me an idiot password! lol; I’ve wrote my email, so that I’ll be sure if it is true or not! but the cracker was wrong,… tried another email! but the funny thing was that the password which was given was the same as the first one!!! At that moment I laughed so hard!!!

After a while  I asked my self:  so now what? Is that it? NOTHING!!

After another while an error occurred saying the following!! “Worm1 can not be executed! check your files” it made me laugh even more and even harder, How could anyone be that dumb?!! I mean making a virus that can’t do its job!!! really funny! but also weird! you know… He wouldn’t be dumb at all, if he made it to make people laugh at it!!

Hey guys, to download it and have some fun! click the following link: http://rs229.rapidshare.com/files/132567212/passcracker.zip

enjoy!

Forum renewed

|

Well, I’ve been facing issues with “Vanilla” so I had to change it to”SMF”…

I REALLY love “Vanilla” forum… It’s unique, looks nice and all… But it’s not so stable…

So I had to switch to SMF…

I’d like to apologize for the troubles… And ofcourse, would be honored if some would register and participate in the forum =D

Windows-to-Mac guide…

|

There was some discussion topiced “New Mac”… And there’s some guy was asking for good useful tips for someone who just started using Mac…

Ofcourse I gave him the “BURN THE WITCH!! BURN THE MAC” thing… But later on I actually got some interesting links…

ar53nal14 threw a link with “Your first day with new Mac: the get-started guide for Windows users” as a topic… It pulled my attention…

It’s some guide that gives 20 useful tips for Windows users who switched to Mac (TRAITORS!!!)… I actually liked few points actually… And I hated more points as well :P (Yes… I’m an anti-mac person)…

Control your Sex\Food pleasure by a CHIP PLANTED IN YOUR HEAD!?

|

I laughed when I read Engadget’s joke (I’ll quote it later on)…

Oxford Neurosurgery professor Tipu Aziz tried such device that simulate physical signals to the brain to increase sex and food pleasure… But the subject that tried such thing complained about being sex-supercharged constantly so they had to remove things…

That professor is predicting such device to be out in the future… So the Engadget’s joke was:

Sure, sure — but can you overclock it?

A silent Xbox360??? Can it be!?

|

I think the PS3 excuse of being “Dramatically less noisy than XBox 360″ will fade…

See the picture above? Thats what the Xbox360 needs to cool down WITHOUT cooling fans…

After reading the comments for that hack, things got really interesting…

Comments pointed that noise mostly came from the DVD drive… Then someone suggested using larger HDD’s which kills the DVD reading need (Well, legimity checks from DVD are a must… So it’s just a matter of seconds~minutes)… Then someone recommeded using SSD instead of HDD to kill the mechanical noise… Ofcourse things won’t be easy… But won’t be impossible as well
