U.S Military base in Afghanistan is %75 virused!?
Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in Exploring Computerism, FUN!, Hacks, Kuwaitism, SECURITEEH!!!, Stupidity on November 30, 2008
Seems like the quote “All your base are belong to us” really applies here

I just hope it’s not a n00B skiddie (script kiddie) who did this outta curious boredom
…
It’s not like we’re having it easy in here y’know, our systems here in Kuwait (Government related systems and networks) are usually hacked by such kids and hackers wannabies (As they usually refer to themselves “Hackarz”… Hackarz… Hehehehe) so we’re not a state to laugh at them or anyone… yet it still makes me laugh
Now I started to have images in my head when a soldier uses a computer and a sign like “1 0wn j00!” appears then he shoots off the monitor

PS360 Controller!!!!!
Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in FUN!, Hacks, PS3, RAND(), Video games, Xbox 360 on November 30, 2008
For those who just switched from Xbox360 to PS3

I know [Ben Heck] from his PS3 and Xbox360 mods (Xbox360 and PS3 Laptops) and other stuff… But I never thought he’d come up with something like this… He stuffed a PS3 Dual-Shock 3 controller guts into Xbox360 body… (It’s a good way to freek people out with the “How’s he playing PS3 with Xbox360 controller?” thingie
)
I, myself, have issues when switching from Xbox360 controllers to PS3 controllers (and vise-versa)… I have 5~15 minutes to adjust…

Windows 7 WARP
Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in Exploring Computerism, FUN!, Technology, Windows on November 30, 2008
Reading this really freeked me out…

Apparently, Microsoft wasn’t satisfied with the GPU Acceleration feature in Windows 7 so they kicked in the WARP function…
WARP (Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform) is something to allow DirectX 10 to utilize nothing but the CPU… As Microsoft said, it’ll work good with a single cored 800MHz CPU… Though it’ll run much better in multi-cores with SSE 4.1 that when they ran some Crysis benchmarking, results were better than Intel’s benchmarking (Crysis, 800×600, Core i7 = 7.36 fps)…
The reason of doing so is to avoid compability issues… Y’know… You wouldn’t have to look for a specific Video Card to run things perfectly… Now you can run the eye-candy stuff through the CPU…
But nothing beats the GPU stuff… BLAAAAAAAAARGH!
Yet it’s still an amazing thing…

1.4BP Camera?
Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in Photography, RAND(), SCIENCE!!, Space, Technology on November 29, 2008
I wonder if I can ask them to send one to my home

That thing you see in the picture is a 1.4 Billion Pixel Camera (Which means 1400 Mega Pixel… They should’ve used Giga Pixel instead to keep the rythme
)
Anyways, it’s used to monitor the sky at night… Placed at mountain in Hawaii… With some technology to remove atmospheric blur…
Now… How small would it be if they developed a sensor with the same BP thingy in the next few years? Would it fit a dSLR camera?

Charge your USB-based devices from your unused VGA output!!
Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in Exploring Computerism, FUN!, Hacks, RAND() on November 29, 2008
I wouldn’t try this since I’m not sure its quite safe to do so… But this is an original hack…

[gmgfarrand] made this hack since he needed a USB thingy to charge his USB-base gadget… So instead of leaving the VGA output useless, he just hacked this little thing to make use of the output by leeching power from the VGA output…
I’m not quite sure its safe to do such thing… But hey… It’s a totally new thing

Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in Exploring Computerism, FUN!, Technology on November 28, 2008

I’m not going to discuss this since it’s not quite clear yet… So I’ll just leave the related Engadget link.
Blu-ray on Sega DreamCast!?
Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in Exploring Computerism, FUN!, Hacks on November 28, 2008
It’s a PC Case mod… Not a real DreamCast… Sorry
(Though I would love seeing DreamCast resurruction)

That box holds Sony NEC Blu-ray drive, AMD mini-ITX 780G Chipset, ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics, HDMI output, 4GB RAM and 160GB storage…
Costs $1,045 (285.546KD according to XE)… Not for sale yet…
More details can be found at the Engadget article.

Robin Harris talks about Apple’s MacBooks: Flop or Fiasco?
Posted by Loolykinns Teh P1r473 in Exploring Computerism, FUN!, Kuwaitism, Mac on November 25, 2008
Before you start flaming me and Robin Harris, I’d like to say “Everyone is entitled to his opinion”…

I’ll provide the link below, and I kinda agree with him… So I’ll just quote the points that I don’t agree with…
Wait… I just read it twice and there’s nothing I disagree with… But I’ll just add one thing:
Mac is this costly due to the name… I mean its like Mercedes and BMW compared to Lexus for example, they got almost the same technologies and Lexus might have more… But Mercedes and BMW costs more because of the brand name…
I’m totally not a car person but I hope people get my point… I’m not bringing this topic to discuss Mac’s system… I’m just discussing its crazy cost…
Robin Harris thinks its totally pointless, I think it costs this crazy just because of that Apple…
There’s people who’d pay more due to loyalty to brand names and there’s who wouldn’t… I’m somewhere in between
(Though things differs here in Kuwait, they just head for what costs more just to brag about it… Few exceptions ofcourse)
You’ll understand more as you read the Robin Harris post.
