How to move your Filezilla settings from Windows XP to Ubuntu

|

Another reason that made me stick with Windows XP is because I’m too lazy to re-connect to every FTP server I’ve connected in Windows XP…

Same as before, copy the following folder contents (in Windows XP):
“C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\FileZilla”

To (Ubuntu in my case):
“/home/[YOUR USERNAME]/.filezilla”

And you’re good to go…

*   NOTES:
[YOUR USERNAME] refers to your Windows XP username that has your settings, and Ubuntu username that you want to copy the settings to…

If you had any issue please lemme know and I’ll be glad to help if I’m able to.

How to move your saved Firefox\Thunderbird settings from Windows XP to Ubuntu

|

One of the reasons that prevented me from sticking with Ubuntu is not being able to copy my Firefox bookmarks and saved passwords and Thunderbird’s emails and accounts.

After asking in Ubuntu Forums, got my problem solved in no time… All you have to do is the following:

For Firefox, Copy the content of the following folder (in Windows XP):
“C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox”

To (in Ubuntu in my case):
“/home/[YOUR USERNAME]/.mozilla/firefox”

And for Thunderbird, Copy the content of the following folder (in Windows XP):
“C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\[RANDOM STRING].default”

To (in Ubuntu in my case):
“/home/[YOUR USERNAME]/.mozilla-thunderbird/[RANDOM STRING].default”

*   NOTES:
[YOUR USERNAME] might differ from Windows XP and Ubuntu depends on how you set them in the beginning (during installation)… And [RANDOM STRING] is a word made by mixing random letters and numbers… You dont have to worry about’em just copy whats inside…

If you face a trouble during that process lemme know and I’ll try to help or go to Ubuntu Forums related thread.

Pisa tower is no longer Europe’s most leaning tower?

|

Well, here’s a weird news… Italy’s Pisa tower isn’t the most leaning tower anymore…

Jacob van Dijk, a retired geometrician, argue about that fact while comparing Pisa tower with a 12th-century building in the Northern Dutch town of Bedum…

As he was comparing, the Pisa tower is 55.86 meters height and leans about 4 meters… While the other tower is 35.7 meters height and leans around 2.61 meters…

Thing is, if both towers were at the same height, the Bedun tower would’ve been leaning with 6cm more than Pisa…

So you think MacBook Air is lightweight?

|

This really surprises me considering the fact that most Mac users’ bite us with Mac’s laptops being lightweighted and thin… Guess what? Not anymore…

Samsung just got their ultraportable X360 laptop… Which is thicker than MacBook Air yet lighter!!

Even though it doesn’t have an internal Optical Drive (IBM Thinkpad’s advantage), it sure has other inputs like 7-in-1 card reader, VGA, LAN, HDMI, PCI Express Cards, 3 USB ports and a docking port… It has its 1.3MP camera, WiFi and bluetooth…

Even space stations got computer viruses issues…

|

Yep, I got surprised as well…

Apparently, some astronaut went to the International Space Station bringing his laptop which was infected with a virus called Gammima.AG… A virus that steals your games’ login informations and all…

Even though the ISS connections aren’t connected directly to earth, connections goes through some scanners and all…

That guy didn’t cause a scene (Imagine that this guy plays WoW and he got his account stolen in space… I’d crack my jaw laughing)

And according to the resource, its not the first incident that happened in there… I wonder how the International Space Station operates when it gets totally taken over cyberally =P

Lookie what I found… APPLE II!!!

|

Dad had that Apple computer for decades!! I can’t even believe they’re fully functional!!!

Here’s 2 pictures I took…

Such antiques!!! And as you can see, it uses the old big floppies… And the monitor is greenish!!!

I’ll try to give it a run… I’m sure dad still has the floppies required to run this old junk… I’ll see if I could take pictures while its running…

NOTE:
If you’re planning on buying this antique, lemme know and provide a price that would let my dad give away his old treasure =P
Just kidding… There’s no way he’d let go of it… >_<;

EDIT:
*   It’s even older than me!!! Here’s the Wikipedia related link.
*   Thanks Mojojojo for correcting me… I think you’re right… Apple IIe not IIc… Why don’t they write more clearer “e” letter? >_<
