Death by Caffeine Calculator

|

I’m writing this post because I was looking up the LD50 (Caffeine’s Lethal Dose)… And ran across this website which calculates how much cups of coffee would kill you.

Hope it helps think of how much coffee you should drink a day… I should tell myself that too…

Caffeine Lethal Dose

|

Since I became a Coffee Addict (Thank you Dunkin’ Donuts… Seems like I won’t have enough of your bitter coffee that I like), my friends (Dragon and another special one) started to worry about me so that kicked some sense in me… So Dragon mentioned the definition LD which meant Lethal Dose…

I surfed the net and first website I checked was Wikipedia (Yes… One of the best websites for resources) and read about Caffeine.

As quoted from Wikipedia:
“In cases of extreme overdose, death can result. The median lethal dose (LD50) given orally, is 192 milligrams per kilogram in rats. The LD50 of caffeine in humans is dependent on weight and individual sensitivity and estimated to be about 150 to 200 milligrams per kilogram of body mass, roughly 80 to 100 cups of coffee for an average adult taken within a limited time frame that is dependent on half-life. Though achieving lethal dose with caffeine would be exceptionally difficult with regular coffee, there have been reported deaths from overdosing on caffeine pills, with serious symptoms of overdose requiring hospitalization occurring from as little as 2 grams of caffeine. Death typically occurs due to ventricular fibrillation brought about by effects of caffeine on the cardiovascular system.”

That kinda freeked me out. So I calculated my Lethal Dose (Though I’m sure I did it wrong… But just for the fun of it)… I weight 75Kgs… So my Lethal Dose is (150mg x 75Kg) to (200mg x 75Kg) … Basically 11.25g to 15g… Yet I don’t know the “per” time period… Don’t know how to calculate the Half-Life thingy (NOT THE GAME YOU IDIOTS!!) Wikipedia mentioned.

Panoramio vs Flickr

|

Ok this really picks my nerves…

I’ve been having my Flickr account for a while, I can’t say I don’t like it. I do. It’s basically allows you to upload your pictures without limits (100MB per month maybe… But no total size for the account… As far as I know), It gives you the ability to choose the main page’s layout, set albums and folders and much more features that is fun to use.

I messed around with Google Earth few weeks ago seeing Kuwait and everything. Then I realized people been posting their pictures in there… NOW THATS AWESOME!!

Panoramio doesn’t give you fancy and fun features like Flickr. But lets you locate your pictures in Google Earth so others would see them. And here comes the big feature; IT HOLDS A CONTESTS WITH 28 WINNERS MONTHLY!!! Maybe the prizes aren’t that special, but atleast there’s a competition.

To close this post; I don’t think people uses Panoramio much, but it’s amazing… Yet you cant get rid of Flickr just because of that… While you’d need Panoramio to put your pictures in Google Earth.

Check my Flickr and Panoramio if interested

A way to know if you’re gay or not

My friend sent me this file so I thought of sharing it so people would know gay from straight people.

It doesn’t have to be right… But could help (and make fun of other people too =P)

Hope it becomes helpful =D

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf infront of Qasr Al-Seif: Day 1

|

Today I felt like trying a new place. So I got outta Dunkin’ Donuts (Yes… DD… The inner evil me forces me to go there), called Dragon (eLeeT) and my friend Painkiller and went to look for a new place to try. I even was cruising Gulf Street for like an hour trying to decide.

Finally decided to go to “Cocoa Leaf” near the Olympic complex thats in progress… But, it’s not a coffee house (bohohooo…).

So I thought of the word “Leaf” and remembered there’s supposed to be a quite coffee house with the word “Lead” in it, it was “The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf” located right infront of Qasr Al-Seif (somewhere near Panini and The Burger Hub). Went there, called my friends and they couldn’t come due to some issues (except you Dragon… You’re just a lazy butt!!!)

I’m writing this post while drinking their HOT VANILLA!!!

Prices:
*   The Chocolate fantasy costs around 1.750KD
*   The HOT VANILLA (0.4Litre) costs around 1.200KD
*   Decently reasonable for the drink… But the cake isn’t that great (because it had nuts… I’m kinda allergic to’em… My tongue is itching me)

Space:
*   Small indoor space and Large outdoor space…
*   Parking your car might be a hard task… I think I’m lucky since I arrived around 19:30

Quality:
*   The Chocolate Fantasy had the chocolate that I prefer (kinda dark and bitter)… I love it… But I wasn’t lucky enough because it had nuts… I’d try something else later on
*   The HOT VANILLA IS HOTTT!!! I LIKIE!!!!! It makes me feel 273542878537265832 years younger… Reminds me when I was young, sneaking to the kitchen, grabbing some milk and put some chocolate powder and mess things out… Then mom yells and I run away =P.
*   They served the HOT VANILLA with some HUGE glass… Unusual but me likie… And there’s no tray which always bothers me

Atmosphere:
*   I have no right to judge… But decoration feels cheap to me… So common wooden decoration… Less comfy seats that usual (comparing to Caribou Coffee and The Hangout).
*   There’s a weird drawing on the wall behind me… It has a Kuwaiti guy wearing the traditional uniform (Ghetra and Egal) holding a kid’s hand… Never saw that coming… But since we’re at it, is he the kid’s father or just another pedophile? =P.
*   Popish and so common taste of music… Good thing I have my iPod.
*   Abit chilli and Bright in the inside.
*   Electricity sockets everywhere… People with laptops won’t have to bring their extensions.
*   No WiFi yet. I talked to the Barista and he said it’ll be available soon. Wnet does the job.

Notes:
They offer some card. Order whatever you’re ordering for 12 times and you’ll get a free drink (Coffee or Tea)… Ask them for more details. And they have that cheap Honey Sticks, I’m buying two for my nieces.

Conclusion:
The place IS damn quite (maybe I arrived at some weird timing) but yea I like it… The goods in here are great (well the ones I tried)… It’s chilli in here… Feeling cold right now… I’ll come back here later on for another shot.

(X)Ubuntu 8.04 on a Flash Disk adventure: Day 5

|

Restored my flash drive. And everything works perfectly fine!!!

The error 18 (I wrote Error 14 in my previous post… my bad) was solved by restarting my laptop… I’m sure it got something to do with USB Socket so whatever… It works fine now…

Even though everything runs smoothly, I face one big problem; configuring my Xubuntu to start my Sierra Aircard 850…

I had REAL hard time configuring it and it didn’t work!!!! I tampered with stuff for around 4 hours with no luck!!!!

I worked on it like last year on Ubuntu 7.04 on my friend’s Laptop and worked perfectly with few struggles. In my case, it was hell!!!! I couldn’t figure things out…

I’m not giving up yet… I’ll work on it and maybe release some script to ease things for everyone…

xBox 360° Mock up!!

xBox 360°’s HD-DVD drive is sold for €9.99 … They just wanna sell it since its not supported by Toshiba anymore =P

Check it out in Engadget

Kuwait Cops aren’t that bad after all

|

Well I went to Dunkin’ Donuts (Yes… I had to… I’m broke!!) so I parked right infront of BMW shop (Where buses are supposed to stop… the White’n'Blue colored ra9eef thingy) and got in Dunkin’ Donuts around 14:30…

Got out around 17:00 and a cop gave me a ticket. Well, It’s not a No-Parking zone but I admit its wrong to park where buses supposed to stop.

I talked to the cop as in “Am I too late?” he replied “Yes… Already wrote you a ticket”… So yea I felt bad…

Then he added “I gave you a No-Parking ticket… cost ya 5KD… Felt bad giving you a Parked-In-Bus-Stop ticket which would cost you 10KD…”

I’m glad he didn’t… I’m already broke (got exactly 1/4KD in my wallet and 50fils)… Well… Kuwaiti cops aren’t that bad after all (few exceptions ofcourse)
